About to Start a Project
I'm about to start on fixing up my 76 Crew Cab. It's the only rig I have for pulling goose-necks, so I'm not going to be able to do a frame-up restore. I ranch for a living, so I need this heavy puller a lot. It's in good enough shape it really doesn't need that any way. I'm just going to be fixing some dents 'n dings, possibly replacing the grille shell, and probably replacing all the body mounts. I put a 4 Star long-block 460 in it a couple of years ago; it has less than 10k on it.
I got my first dent-side in 1980 and have taken apart and put back together almost everything on one, with a couple of exceptions. I've never messed with the chrome trim. Can someone explain how to take it off and put it back on? I know there are clips under it, but I don't know how they work.
Once I get done with my Crew, then I have to decide what to tackle next. I've got my '79 F-150 351M, auto work rig (it's a rolling work shop with three toolboxes on it), a '79 F-250 Supercab LWB (460, not running), or my '79 F-350 Supercab XLT Lariat LWB (knocking 351M, 4 speed). One of these will be my 'new' dialy-driver/work rig, another will be done frame-up to be a nice 'going-to-town' rig. I'm kind of leaning toward doing the full resto on the F-350 right now.
Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
