new 2nd owner of a 66 F250 here and i've been wondering what exactly is the purpose of the small push button above my ignition switch? i'm starting to wonder if it's the hazard switch. it doesn't do anything and it merely pops back out after depressing it,
additionally, i swapped out a burned ground from the fuel level sensor on the gas tank hoping my fuel guage would jump into action. it didn't give me the the love i sought....
my next step is to remove the fuel level sensor and see if the float is okay. any other thoughts? suggestions? i just received a wiring diagram i bought off ebay so perhaps i should study that as well.
i'm loving the simplicity of this truck. it harkens back to the 1954 International Harvester pickup i owned as a teenager back in the 70's.
As Wills said, the button should be for windshield washers. That's where they were on early production '66 trucks until they were later moved to the wiper switch. Number Dummy can tell from which VIN the changeover took place. To check out your fuel gage, take the plug off the fuel sender stud and ground it with the ignition switch in the on position. If the gage needle moves to full your problem is with the sender.
