AC coil cleaner

I notice that the maintenance crews are starting to clean the cooling coils in our Air Conditioning system; I spoke to one and he says they use a bio-degradable Coil cleaner.

Some of you guys must work in that business. Where does one buy indoor coil cleaner.

Are there any home made concoctions that will work for cleaning the coils?

I am retired from the HVAC industry. We used a product called Calclean, made by Calgon Corperation. It is available in one gallon containers at most refrigeration and air conditioning parts stores.

AC coil cleaner

I use a product called Hurriclean. You can check out graingers.com and see what they have. It's a mild acid you mix with water, spray it on, let it foam for a minute, and hose it off. If you get it in your eyes, you'll need medical care. Most supply houses won't sell to persons outside the trade, but look around. Cleaning the coils is not the only thing invloved with an AC tuneup, you might just want to pay the $$$ and get it done by a pro. I get 89.00+tax for this service.
