Differences in c4 and c5 transmissions

I am looking for a transmission for my 1979 f100 and one place I called said that because the transmission fills from the side of the pan it is a c5. I am pretty sure i have a c4. I have read of two different types of c4's pan fill and case fill. He only has case fills. Will it bolt up the same? and how do you fill it. The transmission pan is flat in mine ads opposed to the humped pan that a c5 has. Are there other differences?
