EGR Valve

I've got a bad egr valve on my '90F250 351W. I'm debating whether to put a block off plate on or clean the egr valve. What is it going to mess up if I put a block off plate on? Its a daily driver mostly in town so gas mileage is of utmost importance especially when you only get 10.5 mpg.

Mine was no more than 30 bucks at napa. just cahnge it.

I would change it too. Sometimes if you block them you will get a bad ping. The EGR is somewhat benificial. It increases volumetric efficiency, Cools the burn to eliminate knock. I got away with taking it off on my EFI 300 with running bigger injectors. Runs smoother without the EGR and more power, but uses more fuel.
