There was a flurry of posts from those suffering from this defect this past summer. It appears to be heat related as many who identified this issue lived in Texas where the temperatures were constantly over 100 degrees.

The applique is simply "glued" on, with no mechanical fasteners whatsoever.

People are going to be seriously upset if the tailgate appliqué continues to comes of after the warranty expires.

had my truck for over 2.5 years old now and no issues with the appliqué so far. If it comes off post-warranty, I'll just ditch it and have my body guy repaint the whole gate.
