ADT, I really appreciate you getting back to me. No, it's a gasser Surbuban. My wife's, she didn't want an Excursion as people said it rode rough, like a truck. I may have her swung over to diesel if it ain't to loud.
Well I put this on the '94-'97 PSD forum too. I took the wife's Surburban in for front end alignment after changing some parts. The tech said he couldn't get enough adjustment and needed to "slot" the frame. $89.00 each side. He said I could probably do it. My uncle, a Chevy only dude, says the man is on drugs. I wonder, now I am north of 50 and owned a few Chevy's and never heard of such a thing. Is this real, or is the man self medicating?
Yeah I got a friend that is real good on front ends but out of town and can't ask him. He went into business and does not have floor space for the alignment machine. This really puzzles me.
Something fishy there. I don't see any reputable shop cutting on anything frame related unless it is a body shop. Never heard of that one before. I think this guy is green. You need to take it to someone else.
No, he's not green, but something else maybe up. I dunno? The ownership of the shop changed recently? A local Ford now New Holland dealership was known for hosing people and a different friend of mine quit them. They priced my tractor repair at $2500.-$3000. I took it somewhere else and the guy called up and apologized because it was a $552.00 bill. Maybe these guys bought the front end shop?
Hold on there a sec guys, the shop is right, im assuming that the 'Burb is 4x4. on the newerish Chevy IFS trucks, by that i mean 94ish to 99 it is sometimes nessissary to slot the upper control arm mounts, not the actual frame itself. is the camber a little wacked out?
Yeah, well I could have given a little more info, but didn't think about since it's O.T. It is ...'95 4X4 350, 1500 with a factory CD player. :-) Wife just left with a print out in the car but I think they said the toe was in spec' something they couldn't get, so I guess it is the camber. I think my meds are giving problems. But I did call a shop with a bad rep and he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. (?)
Wow thanks for the link Mr. CMK. I found the link to Chevy Enthusiasts, but no reply. The people on here, whether it's the IDI or PSD folks are the best people in the world. I just hope you won't hold it against me for having the soft spot in my heart (head) for a 350.
