Czarnina Kid
I just finished a restoration of a 1977 F250 4x2 and want to share my engine experience.
1) A 460 rebuilt by Motor Works in Spokane WA with a Elgin E-1160p cam run straight up, +.030 speed pro flat top pistons. The Block was not decked and the pistons are .040 in the hole. My static compression is 9.17 to 1.
Edelbrock performer manifold (EDL-2166) and 750 cfm carburetor (EDL-1411).
2) RHP Stage I D3VE Heads from Scott Johnson at reincarnation-automotive milled .030 (270/180 cfm @.600) 3 Recurved distributer also from Scott Johnson.
3) Headman elite headers with 2.5 inch exhaust into magnaflow muffler with x pipe.
4)The Truck has the dreaded Dana 61 axel with a 3.07 ratio so per Scotts recommendation I installed a wide ratio gear set in the C-6 transmission as to create a 3.38 axel ratio in first gear. I still however have the benefit of the 3.07 ratio for about 2050 rpms @ 60 mph (p215-85-16 tires).
The truck weighs in at 4500 lbs the engine has only 1000 miles runs as good as my 2011 f150 and I have reached 13.5 mpg driving at 60 on the open road in rural eastern Colorado.
Many thanks to Scott the mad porter for his advice on this rebuild!
