i was thinking of adding a carb spacer to the f150 4x4, it has the stock cam w/ edl. proformer intake, w/ 600cfm edl. carb. i'm looking for more low end. and i heard a carb spacer will help. but, a 1" or 2"??????? the truck has a 351m, at. stock gears, w/ 31 x 10.5 on it. any ad vice will be great!!! thanks!!
Thats pretty cool....can't say I have seen one of those before....$90..+...$40 for additional inserts....ouch...still interesting though. Are you using that product ranchero77?
after transfering the location of intake divider to the spacer I just milled out a slot 1/8 wide x 1/4" deep into each the side of the spacer and cut a peice of aluminum to fit. a little dab of silicon in the slot to seal it. nothing to it.
if don't have a mill maybe you could use a coping saw. that would fit inside the spacer.
A buddy of mine had me make him a 4 hole carb spacer out of hard maple. He says it works great, and doesn't transmit the heat from the intake to the carb. I wonder if I could sell them?
I'm a woodworker by trade and have made several spacers in the past. in my opinion the maple ones tended to crack around the ears. i think a Baltic birch plywood one would be better.

if you should buy or use one get a phenolic one they wont transfer heat the way a metal one will. which in turn keeps the carb cooler.when i got mine last year from schucks out here it came with an insert to either keep it open or put in the other insert with the holes .wasnt very much if i recall
I got a 2" one for my 79,hard to tell if it did any good. But yeah it well help keep the carb cooler longer. On one of the truck/car/speed show's,the guy was saying that it fakes the manfi. out, making it think the manfi is bigger.
