Vintage Battery Tester Repair
I bought an old Atlas load tester, model BT-4.After not finding a pdf. of the manual online, and finding that they are out of business, I still want to find a place to have it refurbished, if possible.Does anyone have a place they can recommend from personal experience?Preferably on the west coast? If one of you works on this equipment - and can access parts - The job's yours. Thanks

Wow.Thanks, Don, for that link, but that fellow seems out of my financial reach.I'm not concerned about a cosmetic restoration, though, just want all the components tested and cleaned ,and replaced so it will last the rest of my life. That guy's work is impressive.I can live with the faded paint and pitted chrome parts.
I always prefer older,low-tech tools.and appliances, with no electronics.Remember when washers, dryers, and refrigerators would last 15-20 years? Now,for the price of a couple of service-calls and circuit boards, you'd be better off buying a new appliance.
P.S.-I just noticed our signatures.I see we both have an appreciation for curmudgeons.

W.C. Fields was one of my favorite actors, I just loved his attitude!
Being 62 myself, I can relate to the "old days".......................
I have NO rigs with FI or computers in them, you just can't beat "old school"..........................lol
Post up some pics (maybe some interior pics too) maybe I can help ya. All my test equipment is vintage (some with vacuum tubes!) and I've kept them working for a long time...........

I will open up the case, clean it,blow it out and look for obvious problems - but not till next weekend,as family will be here this afternoon for Easter.I'll try to get back to you with photos.Do you think replacement parts are available? The obvious problem is that the hold-and-release timer for the load tester moves very slowly and erratically.I intended to shoot it with some contact cleaner, but maybe that's not the right thing to do.
