transmission shelled out on 93 f 150 5 speed. had a month old clutch and new slave cylinder in it. Picked up a used 5 speed , supposedly a good one , installed with the newer slave . Bled clutch , have a ton of pedal , the truck rolls free when clutch engaged , can start the truck in gear with clutch engaged , and the gear works normally engaging when the clutch is let out. when start in neutral cannot get it into gear.
WTF , bad transmission ? Any thoughts or advice appreciated.
When the old tranny crapped out could it have damaged the clutch disc ? The old tranny somewhat locked up and even when in neutral has something going on inside , kind of dragging. limped it home in fourth gear and didn't hear anything going on that would indicate some kind of damage.
Have you tried pumping the clutch pedal about 5 times in neutral with engine running, and then see if you can get it into gear? If it goes, your clutch system still has air in it.
yep , tried that , pulled the yoke out and watched while in neutral and had circulation of fluid both with clutch in and out. seems it is not completely releasing , maybe a damaged disc , or slave that is not fully extending. pull it out again tomorrow and check it all out , ahh crap !
Sounds like your slave is weak to me. I am kinda having the same issue with my 95 right now. Overfilling the reservior by about 1/8" helped me a little, but the problem is still there. I burned my clutch up pretty good last weekend, so mine is all my fault.
If it's a new clutch disc I make sure the splines are clean (I use brake cleaner & q-tips). Sometimes there's a laquer like substance on the splines that causes the disc not to glide on the splines freeley. Follow shop manual on lube for splines & throwout bearing sleeve.
yeah , i agree with the above posts , going to pull it all and put in new clutch kit and slave and be done with it , probably should have done that yesterday. Murphy was hanging around my garage yesterday ! thanks for the input guys , its always appreciated
