Where can I buy fender moulding retaining clips?

I have a 82 F250 4x4 XLT Lariat. I need the retianing clips for the side body moulding. I have the "high-narrow" moulding. I have googled many sites and purchased a number of clips but nothing so far fits. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Boy......

This is another time where I'm half-expecting to get beaten down by people for some reason.

The parts catalog sucks here.... it shows drawings depicting general placement of various moldings & trim that was available but no specific measurements.

And, there are different clips used depending on location on the trim, e.g. at the ends, in the middle, etc.

Thanks for the picture, that stuff doesn't look like it has a vinyl insert (narrows my possibilities)

OK, 1982 upper molding without vinyl insert, non-pressure-sensitive (stick-on)...

Based on what I see in the parts manual - and I'll ask Bill (NumberDummy) to check up on me since he's the expert and I'm the newbie - it looks to me like you'd need the following:

Retainer Code KU = middle clips (?) = D0SZ-6521066-B = Obsolete, no longer available, maybe been replaced by something I can't find so maybe I'm doing this wrong, maybe Bill can help

Retainer Code KY = ends (?) = E0TZ-16A076-B = Green Sales Company (www.greensalescompany.com 800-543-4959) has 12

Retainer Code AR = on cab behind door (?) = D7VY-6050074-A = Green Sales Co has 415

Retainer Code GE = on cab behind door (?) = some big, long, unfamiliar-looking number with an asterisk and more abnormal-looking numbers in parenthesis, I'm not gonna go here

Retainer Code KT = rear tail area = E0TZ-9942533-A = Green Sales Co has 7

I went googling around for "ford retainer code ku" and some possibly-interesting stuff came up (although not KU-specific) that you might want to look at.

You might also use some sort of 3M-type of adhesive in a tube.

You might be able to file down the too-big ones you have?

If it were me, I'd take these numbers and give Green Sales a call.

I'll ask Bill to stop by if he has a chance.

EUREKA! DOSZ-6521066-B (replaced DOSZ-6521066-A) .. Moulding Clip / Code KU Also used on side mouldings of 1970/71 Thunderchickens / Obsolete

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any. (Chris: I ran both D0 & DO and A & B).

Suggest sending the pic of this clip to Green Sales Co. (greensalescompany.com-800-543-4959), to see if they can match it up.

There are HUNDRED'S of these types of specific clips used 1965/89 cars/trucks. Something hasta be the same...or darn close.

Sending the pics in e-mail is a good idea, I forgot about that!

Sending to sales@greensalescompany.com might work.

To add to what has already been said, there is really no way of knowing if those part numbers I gave are correct for what you need or not.

The parts catalog shows drawings of the various mouldings & trim...

- Above the front marker lamp
- Inline with it
- Below it

Most of it has a vinyl insert, I gave the numbers corresponding to the only upper trim for your year listed without that insert BUT the drawing shows it being above the marker lamp.

Which leads us to believe, maybe it was dealer-added or aftermarket.

In any case, somehow get Green to look at your pics, the listed part numbers may or may not help....

Ah, I see Bill has edited his post, he's looking in the 70s catalogs.

Still looking - thanks for replying

Thanks for all the help. I e-mailed my request to Greensales.
This trim is mounted just under the side marker lights. Also, it has a vinyl inset but does not use any type of adhesive to mount (must use the clips). Thanks again.

OK thank you for the explanation that there are, in fact, vinyl inserts in that trim.

But there are still discrepancies between your truck and the parts catalog.

- The only upper trim shown with vinyl insert on a regular cab is mounted inline with the lamp assembly.

- the only upper trim shown with vinyl insert that is mounted below the lamp is on a super cab.

They all share (with the trim listed above) the Type KU retainer apparently for the middle portions of the trim, and these two new types share between themselves:

Retainer Code LH - E0TZ-160976-C - On cab behind door, also on tail area - Green Sales has 11

Retainer Code LK - E0TZ-1029124-A - on cab behind door - Can't find it anywhere

Retainer Code KJ - E0LY-66423B06-A - on end(s) of door-mounted trim - Green Sales has 2

Retainer Code LJ - E0TZ-1020884-A - on end(s) of door-mounted trim - Can't find it anywhere

So, it still looks like Green Sales is going to be your best shot (unless you can find something generic via google).

Be sure to give Green all these part numbers, it will likely help them locate the things in the warehouse.

But, again, I have no idea if any of these are what you're looking for, your truck doesn't match the pictures I have in the parts catalog......

BTW here is the below-marker-lamp trim that's depicted in the parts manual:

I bet they have dozens of different sizes and styles

Same trim location - but you're looks like vinyl with a bright metal insert and mine is bright metal with a vinyl inset.
What year is your truck?
Is your trim held on wih adhesive or clips?
