99 F150 supercab rear sliding window leak

Hey guys,

Looking for some info on this problem if anyone can help. My F150 developed a leak at the lower corner area on the passenger side a few weeks ago. In depth water testing and a trip to our local glass shop confirmed that the leaks (plural) are coming not from the rear window seal itself as often happens, but from where the rear window moulding inserts/attaches itself to the cab. As such, the glass guys attempted a simple fix by applying urethane sealant around where one of the moulding attaching clips inserts through a body hole and it sealed fine....except we noticed another spot about an inch lower behind a body panel where like a guide/aligning post inserts through the back cab wall where the water is coming in. I don't think he will be able to seal that from the inside like he did with the other clip and we may have to replace the rear window moulding. Interestingly, the description of this moulding on fordparts.com says that that the seal was removed by engineering and no longer included with the moulding due to sealing problems. No kidding! I can attest to the sealing problems! Anyway, the current replacement part for this moulding appears to be the 3L3Z*1842430*AAB which says that it "includes a new seal design for better water repulsion". Does anyone have any experience with this part and could tell me if it worked well to water seal and whether it is worth replacing (the moulding is very expensive)? Does anyone know where I could see/get a visual of the new seal to see what Ford is talking about regarding the new design? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Put out the same question to one of the posters in the that thread who was about to replace their trim piece. Asked if he ever wound up replacing his and what his results were. Just waiting for a response, hopefully. Thanks.

Dealt with this on my sons 1998 with a sliding rear window. Glass shop had a replacement slider that INCLUDED a new frame. His frame had multiple cracks in it, thus we replaced everything. Ran about $435 - $450 with tax. Don't recall the brand of window. I live in the Houston area, so it was not that hard to find someone who could help out.

So it included the outside rear moulding and a sealing gasket? That would be great and I could do all three pieces that way for the same coast as just the rear moulding and seal itself from Ford. If you could possibly remember or anyone else knows the name of the window or another window, that would be really helpful. Couldn't find anything poking around on the web. I can try asking my glass co. tomorrow too. Thanks.
