I mentioned in another thread that when I got my new truck and checked the lug nut torque that none of them were close to the 165 lb/ft that is recommended in the manual. One was even close to finger tight. That was with a borrowed torque wrench from my neighbor. I figured it was time to get my own big torque wrench. I have a small one but it is a 3/8" drive in lb/in. I looked around and found prices all over the board. Just wanted to point out one in particular I found that I liked and is a pretty good deal.
This sells at my local NAPA dealer for over $360 for the exact same wrench. I am not affiliated with this guy in any way except that I ordered one from him and had it in 3 days. He has more.
I've been needing one for a while. I have boat and camper lug nuts to torque in addition to my boat's jackplate/engine mount bolts, plus the prop nut. thanks for the info. I've been eyeballin' a 1/2 torque wrench at Lowes for $100. The one you posted may be a better deal.
If I put my 165lb body on the lug wrench 12 inches from the center of rotation, that's a 1:1 ratio of leverage, so I am getting 165lb/ft, right? Lucky I'm a trim guy...........
But seriously, the big torque wrenches are pricey, nice find.
This one beeps when you hit torque. You do not have to look at the "dial". It will also record how much torque it takes to unscrew a nut, which is something that is far more difficult with a clicker. And it comes with a nice blow molded case.
That eBay wrench looks a lot like my snap on. For those with DRW's, get your self deep impact socket and a 12" 1/2" drive impact extension. Makes doing the rears much easier.

Never been a problem with me. At 275 lbs, I'm one of those guys that get on the talking bathroom scale and hear it say "one at a time please".
