I just acquired an 1998 F150 XLT with electric door locks. However there were no remote door lock fobs with the keys. How do I find out if the truck is equipped for the remote locks and it not equipped, can I add this feature?
OK, I have the box for the Keyless Entry. Can I use the couple of wireless remote key fobs I have to get into the truck and if so how the hell do you program the damn things?
Yep, the instructions were in the manual and they work good if you actually follow them and can count. It's amazing the things you find in the owners manual, when you actually read it.
so you got 2 remotes and programmed them so you have keyless entry now??
Yes, I had the two remotes from my Ranger the wife wrecked and I have two more somewhere around the shop, I just have no clue where right now. But when they show up, I program all of them so everyone in the house will have one plus a spare in the key hook box.
I had the same thing. When I bought my truck I had no fobs at all. Was under the steering wheel area for something else and saw the remote keyless entry module. So I ordered 2 key fobs off ebay for something like 14.99 and they work fine...
Hello,
I have a 1998 F150 xlt. The doors on the truck lock when the truck engine is turned over.
I purchased a remote keyless entry and attempted to program using the manual.
My problem is that the truck will not go into programming mode which should be indicated by the doors locking and unlocking. I have tried both 5 and 8 cyles of on/off as both are indicated in the manual.
Anyone have any ideas?
thanks
