After 10 years with Ford I have to say I have come to a crossroads. I decided today to sell my 6.0 after just one year. I still love my Fords but I just can afford a new one to get me out of the 6.0. I found a very nice 07 Dodge with the 5.9 megacab. I know the interior is not as nice and overall the ford is a better looking truck but when I am in the shop every month and losing money because I can't get to the jobs, I have to do something. I know the trucks past history and has been garage kept. Sorry guys but I will be in a cummins for a while. Thanks to the friends and folks here than have helped me over the past years and I will be stopping by from time to time to see how everyone is doing. Thanks again.
You had your fair share of posts asking for help while you were here, Daniel. It's a shame you couldn't get it straightened out. Good luck with the new truck.
Well, I have so many vehicles already (4 cars, 4 bikes, 1 boat) that I just traded it in for a grocery getter: 2008 BMW 328i with relatively low miles. I would have liked to have been out of it all together but I've always liked the 328s so I figured "what the hell" and my payment is now slashed to about 1/3 of what the 2011 was. (win win)
I don't think I will be leaving the forum to never come back. I enjoy the fellowship of the members here too much to just up and leave over the fact that I don't own a ford anymore. I will still be around, in and out as always.

Good luck with your new truck the motor is the best part. But you might want to check from what I have heard the 07 is the worst year to get due to the regen on the exhaust. They have had problems with that year especially.

He purchased a 07 with the 5.9 cummins so it doesn't have all the emmissions equipment and the regens. That all started in 07.5 with the 6.7 cummins.

I did not know it was only on the 6.7 cummins. I guess I just don't pay close enough attention to Dodge products because I would not even consider buying one. The engines are good but everything else around the engines are junk.
i love the cummins motor but hate dodge. sorry your leaving the ford but the best of luck to ya with the dodge. atleast you still have the ford blood runnin in you!!!! the 5.9 is a good motor

Hate to see a fellow engineer "de-evolve" into law but these are strange times in which we live...

Haha, well truth be told, I did engineering simply as a way to fulfill the patent bar requirement. So 'de-evolving' to law (I'm working towards becoming a patent attorney) was always the plan.
Side note: I dunno about your market but my region is simply over saturated with engineers so the pay is pretty laughable even with a PE (I'm not PE). My wife is a nurse and makes substantially more than I did. She even makes more than my good buddy (he also has a masters in ME) who works at Rolls Royce in their turbine systems. Like you said the state of the economy has forced many of us engineers into nontraditional areas. I have buddies I graduated with working at bakeries and the like. I would probably be right there baking bread with them if it weren't for the fact that I took a few tribological specific courses and being a member of STLE, all of which was just dumb luck having always enjoyed chem classes/lab (I started out as a CE). What do you do?
