I read when removing the butterfly (when you grind out the top)and put in the 3/4 inch freeze plug, what do I use to hold it in place? I thought I read to use red loctite? Thats only good to 300 degrees right? Can someone tell me what to use.. I havent done it yet but getting stuff I need..Thanks
There is a c clip to hold it in place. I would get a replacement. I used red locktite on exhaust side of turbo and blue on the compressor side.
I went to every napa around here and none had freeze plugs.. Went to a maching shop and got a freeze plug but said he never heard of one with a cclip....How hot are gases on exhaust side, my pyro shows up to 1200 on pre turbo tapped in manifold..
Is the freeze plug basically a compression fitting, meaning nothing is needed to lock in place? What about adding some jb weld to it before I tap it in.. I dont want it blowing out after 2 miles of driving...what are the exhaust temps?Post turbo?
The c clip is on the housing already from where you removed the rod. I just put some jb weld in there, and really caked it in there. It has held up fine for over 1000 miles.
don't forget to put a 470 ohm resistor in the harness to keep the engine code (soft) from showing up and possibly causing it to defuel. $1 at radio shack.

Yep I just saw that on clays site,I might do that with the delete pedestal.I have had the solenoid d/c for 5 days now with no defueling.I heard of the soft code which Im sure I have(I havent hooked up my a/e to verify)but didnt know about defueling??????guess Ill have to get the resistor if thats the case.I dont care about the soft code...Does anyone know if its worth getting a new collector to the back of turbo clamp?Im assuming I may damage it taking it off for the first time?
I put the Garrett High flow outlet on my Excursion last week along with the Non-EBPV pedestal and rebuilt the turbo (got all the parts from Clay at Riffraff). The only seal I replaced was the one on the compressor housing. Check with Clay just to make 100% sure.
