My Current Project (Pic Heavy)

Hello all, figured I'd share some pics and info on my on going money pit. Plans are converting to 4x4 and a Cummins swap, plus some other "comforts."

Here's what it looked like before I started.

It was a bare bones Custom with a 351M and C6. My dad used it for years in his landscaping business and eventually blew the 351 up. He replaced it with a early model 429 and worked with it for several more years before giving it to me. I drove it for awhile and decided to pull the motor for my Mustang and ended up pushing the truck back in the woods, hence the shape it's in above.

So far I've had to replace both floor pans, converted it to A/C, added a factory clock, manual pedals, later model super cab panels (,so I could have armrest and cup holders lol,) later model visors, re-done the interior in the factory Caramel color, and painted the cab back original Dark Pine Metallic. Have also managed to rebuild the rear end, and painted the frame from the cab back.

This is where I currently am.

Once the seats are in, doors are on, and a few more interior issues are fixed, hopefully I'll be moving on to the front axle, then bed, then engine.

Love it!!! I did about the same thing you are doing! Get a rolling 4x4 chassis and swap the body over to it. It is the easiest way to convert to a 4x4. Same color too!!!

That's one sweet looking truck you have there.

I was going to go with a 4x4 rolling chassis, but as my luck would have it all the super cabs I found around here, even in the junkyards are two wheel drive. No big deal though, I don't mind fabbing a solid axle up front. Besides, nothing could be harder than trying to put that back glass in with new rubber by myself lol...

Project looks like it's coming along nicely. What axle are you planning on stuffing under her?

p.s. Diggin' the old Sinclair sign

Did you repaint her or is that the original paint just all cleaned up?

Planning on using a solid D44, swapping over to 8 lug, then bracing the whole axle if necessary for the weight. Reason being, I can get 44's all day long for around 350$. D60's are out of my budget right now and I don't want to attempt to put that weight on a TTS.

I'm repainting the truck. I have no clue what was used to paint the dull green you see in the before pics. The paint is a little dusty in the pics, but once outside the metallic green really shines.

I really like that color. I wish I knew if it was stock or something someone else painted on her.

The metallic green is the factory color that was under the dull looking green.

Paint code 7M, Dark Pine Metallic.

Wow, nice work bud. I too wondered about those real panels, what were they pulled from,as I like that look. Also, did you pull the front panels too? Any install tips or is it just bolt on and go?

I really dig the pine green exterior and contrasting gold interior!

Is that the original interior color, or was the interior originally green?

I pulled the rear panels from a 94 Ford Super cab. They sit right in, but I had to do a bit of trimming to my original upper panels so they would line up and overlap properly. The way the light shines, makes them look a different color, but they aren't. Also have to drill a few extra holes.

I haven't decided weather to get the rear panel that will connect both panels and covers the rear of the cab. If I find a seat that will cover that part, so you can't see the green, I'll leave it off and not worry with it.

Originally Caramel. I really liked it too, but SEM didn't offer the color and the next closest thing I wasn't happy with. So I sent a piece of the interior to their labs in S.C. and they formulated a color and sent me the print out and I had it mixed. Said they would add it to their upcoming color charts since it didn't exist before.

Well haven't got much done, but the radio finally showed up so now I don't have a hole in the dash.
