Drivetrain ID
Ok guys, need some help here. I am looking for a motor, tranny and tcase for my 1978 Bronco. I found this setup buy the guy doesn't know what tranny or transfer case is. Here is his description: "1984 ford 460, 4 speed granny low, matching transfer case" It came from a truck that had 103k miles when pulled and was running fine.
What is it, would it be a good combo, and what should I expect to pay?

Its a 4WD tailhousing on the NP435 (New Process 435) transmission but there is no t-case in the photo. The NP 205 and 208 along with the BW (Borg-Warner) 1356 will fit the tailhousing. Shift linkage is going to be the concern. One of the NP units are the most likely to have been the OEM behind that setup.

Well from the looks of it, everything would prolly need rebuilt or at least gone over. So I wouldn't go over the core price for both items.
NP205 would be the best choice i think, the NP208 is a full-time 4wd unit. The BW would be harder to get working with that set-up i think.
