sweet. thanks again for all of the info guys. Well seeing that I need egt, trans temp, and want boost, does anybody have a 3 gauge pillar mount that they want to trade for a 2 gauge pillar mount ? haha. its perfectly painted for the e99's! If not then I will just get the trans and egt and wait on the boost. If I had to buy one first to run with the dp tuner should I get egt or trans temp? Im sure Im due for a tranny flush

My tunes from Cale never leave the highest I have, i think he calls it the 100hp
Brian from BTS said his truck never leaves high either. As long as your EGT's are in check let her eat.
That being said, I tow a 7x14 enclosed trailer every day and a 14k lb 5ver on the weekends. Never leaves 100hp tune. Unless EGTS are getting out of control.
I prefer the Tow tunes for towing because the shifts are not as harsh and the pedal is not as twitchy. Of course, I want a twitchy pedal especially in Econo mode but I'd rather not have a "oops" when I am towing.

I would agree with you back in the days when I had the over sensitive throttle pedal on dp's tunes. Sounding like one was revving their truck in the 140a on a bumpy road.
The things I love about Cales tunes is shift strategy, driveablity, and the throttle response. It is the same "sensitivity" if you will of the factory stuff. Not to mention it doesnt ramp up the engine noise as much as the DP either.
or swap what you got for a setup like this. I hate to be the guy that spends other peoples money, but just giving you some ideas.
Thanks. Ya I am going to stick with the EX switcher. I have the manual locking hubs and it'll fit perfect in that spot on the dash. Plus, the mount and the circular gauge would cost a lot more and I dont have the funds to throw down on that right now. I am getting on riffraff right now looking at the cobalts. I am AT LEAST buying the EGT gauge today. I know that the trans temp is crucial as well and I will not be running the 120r mode until I get it as well. I know I want the dimmer switch as well. anything else I need to know for ordering up the gauge?

I don't have that problem with cales tunes I actually can't feel the difference like mentioned below.

anybody know if the autometer cobalts have the option of black bezels? I dont think they do but i was hoping. Anybody have gauges that are super blue backlit like the cobalts and have a black bezel?

I agree with the two quotes below. I loved my DP Tunes, but since have switched to Cale's tunes and Cale has my truck dialed in nicely. Both are very close in HP, but the driveability of Cales tunes on my truck are much nicer. You really cant go wrong with either tuner, thats for sure. Just have to talk to whomever you choose and they will work with you.

I'd get boost too. Also trans temp if you have an auto
what i meant is - Is this all that i will need for the pyro gauge install. I know i need trans temp too but itll have to wait at least for a short period of time. boost comes after trans. And I found the answer to the question. thanks. I should have my gauge by wednesday and the dp tuner is in transit as well! pumped!
The tow tunes affect shift points as well. My F6 has:
stock
1200 high idle
20 tow
40 tow
60 econo
80 econo
It depends what you tow and where, altitude matters. I like the shift points better on the tow tunes when towing heavy, towing light it does not seem to matter. tranny is bone stock with 144k miles. Keep an eye on the pyro, don't overheat the tranny, and I recomend a real voltmeter.... its saved me from being stranded a couple of times by early warning of alternator failure. between both my 7.3's.
My girl gets off work on the west side of the mountains at 6:00 PM then she is on her way here with my DP Tuner! So she should be here at about 7:30. I want to do the install tonight but I know it will be too dark before I get it done. I might just wait until tomorrow. Anybody have suggestions for the install? I am re-reading the install instructions but would like to know any tricks or suggestions people may have.
Also, for those of you who have installed one. how long did it take you?
When I install it, I cut the holes in the plastic around the PCM to make the wires come out easier. To prevent the chip from coming out, I tape it down with duct tape. I don't want the sticky stuff to touch the chip so I put a piece of sponge in between
