A diesel of a different color

Hey guys,

I was surfing Craigslist Denver and came across this old girl. I thought I'd share it. I didn't even know they existed! Maybe with a few mods someone could drop an IDI in it! LOL.

Those motors were sold in ih scouts and some dodge pickups in the late 70s. The dodges were sold under the chrysler name in ih they were nisiaan. They are somewhere around 85hp IIRC.

A IDI would weigh almost as much as the whole truck. A 4BT would be a better choice.

A 4bt would be too heavy for that front end. Mercedes OM617 would be great, about the same weight as the stock small six and 115-128hp stock.

Ditto. With a set of hot injectors, boost turned up to around 13 PSI and some minor pump tweeking you can get up around 145 HP and 200 + ft-lbs. Drop it in complete with the 4 speed auto it comes mated to, and you'd have a smokin' little rig.

none. the ford falcon and ranchero was never made with a diesel engine in america. that is an home made vehicle.

Ditto, I saw one on eBay a couple years ago with a six cyl. Perkins, they had a video as well.
Kind of neat.
I'd like something interesting in my 64 Falcon, Hmmmm?

At a junkyard auction my dad found a mittusbshii diesel 6cyl 292cid i think it was 100hp at 3800rpm, and someone put an m&w turbo on it. It had dual oil filters and such. It had a chrysler bellhousing on it, he got it for $45 bought a auto with lockup converter and put it in a 79 dodge pickup, it was no 6.9.
