Manifold fitting removal trick.
Wring off a fitting in your intake manifold and it's either fix in place or do a bunch of work removing and installing manifold and accessories. Once the extractor fails to remove the corroded-in-place fitting, the fluted style extractor makes a good short taper reamer to get ALMOST all the shell of the old fitting out. I finish with the tap.
Once you have enough entrance taper, start the tap (whose flutes you pack with grease to catch most of the chips). Tap slowly, rotating backwards now and then to break the chip your are creating, removing the tap every five or so turns to clear the chips and re-grease the flutes.
In this case I didn't want to reinstall the same feculent fitting since they are famous for breaking, so it gets a brass hose barb instead.
I cut down the end of the extractor with a cutting wheel so it wouldn't hit inside the manifold before completing its job.
The tapered extractor is easy to control with a wrench, and cheaper than the recommended drill bit many folks won't have a drill large enough to turn.
