I have a 2011 F250 SD, super crew, XLT, short bed. Do I need a leveling kit? I'm not 100% sure of the function of them, and do tow a 32' travel trailer.
If I do need one, any recommendations? Still new to the big truck ownership game.
From everything that I've read on this site it looks like there are two functions that leveling kits serve. The first and most popular is taking the "rake" look out of the truck, so appearance. The second is to fit a larger set of tires underneath the front without rubbing, so function.
Outside of those I have heard no other benefit to the leveling kits. Someone else may have more uses for them, but that's the only two I've seen so far.

What he said... Your truck should level out when you put your trailer on your hitch. I think the people than do put the front leveling blocks in nerver use their tucks to do any work... IMO No disrespect to the yuppy Super Duty owners..
I also tow a heavy 5th wheel with airbag rear suspension, the current rake allows the rear of the box to touch the trailer on inclines, so wish to raise the front of the truck at least two inches. Has anyone had success with a specific product or supplier? Does it require different shocks? Any help would be useful, thanks, Jack.

I have a family of 6 and we like going out in the dunes and to the beach. Since the mini-van won't do that, we need a truck that comfortably fits us. Since I am well over 6 feet tall, and my kids are going to be, we needed a full size truck, which means FORD. Because my SD weighs over 8,000 pounds, I need to run a wider tire for max flotation in the sand. In order to do that, I need a leveling kit so my tires don't rub.
So I guess I don't use my truck for work, but my truck works for me.
I'm considering adding front suspension airbags to carry my snow plow. I checked my axle weights on a local truck scale, and with the SD engine I'm running 5000 lbs front, 3000 rear axle. I add about 1000 lbs of ballast in the bed to plow snow, but this truck does not have the factory plow option. I'd like to keep the front end off the overloads during the winter.
Does anyone have advice or experience installing one of these setups?
Guess I'm a "yuppy" also. I dont have to use my truck for work, I use it for play and I still need it to function well for my needs. Funny the guy who owns the VW is calling people yuppies. I'm bettin he's a poser anyway.
I forgot to point out that the F/R axle weights I mentioned previously were WITHOUT the plow and an empty bed for a gross weight of right at 8000 lbs.
The plow only adds a few hundred, but it hangs out far enough that the moment uses up most of the spring compression left in a static condition. Ballast out back helps a little but apparently these diesels are heavy...
If I don't beat my truck off-road (c'mon a CC SB in the mud? really?) but still live 7 miles from town, am I still a yuppie? What's the age cut-off anyway? I must be close if not over by now...

I recently took my 2inch leveling kit out since it rode like crap with it in.
I would buy shocks for a 2-3 inch leveling kit, I seen them on XDP for like 45/50 a piece.
That would have probably helped out with the crappy ride but oh well
thank you for taking the time to respond. I have new shocks that have mellowed out the ride, guess I'll try to figure out how to raise the hitch on my fifth wheel. Take care, Jack.
