I have a Ramsey 8500 I bought originally for my F150. I had it mounted on a receiver mount I made and used it in the receiver on my front bumper. I got tired of it REAL quick. Any winch is a heavy bitch to get out of your toolbox/bed and carry to either end of the truck, let alone when you're tromping through the mud. Once I got a mud dedicated vehicle I quickly built a winch bumper and kept it mounted permanently. I would much rather have to figure out good vehicle positioning for each situation than lug that damn thing around.

I would suggest at least a 12,000lb winch for a PSD. If it was mine I would get a ~16,000lb one. If you get any less keep a ****** block/pulley setup handy. My 8500 has never not been able to pull the 87 Toyota 4runner it is mounted on out, but I have stalled it out pulling on buried relatively small tractors.

If you're really sold on using a receiver mount, I would definitely get the synthetic line for the weight savings, but I still think you'll hate lugging it around unless you really never use it.

no experience with it, but i would assume "value winch" means made in taiwan with cheap *** parts to save money and rebadged as a warn to cost more than other cheap chit.
