injector problems

just had my 03 6.0l injectors checked. mechanic found #2 and #6 were bad. he recomends replacing all 8 for $3100.00.
I can't afford that right now.
Is there any after market injectors i could buy or is it worth it? I can change the injectors my self.
Even though they found codes for two injectors could it be something else like the FICM?
Has anyone heard of doing a heat test on an FICM?
I was told to heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun when it is cold and see if it starts better.

I have done oil flush and change, fuel filter change(both filters), tested the voltage on the FICM it is 48volts at all times.

I havent heard of heat test

some people have reported low ficm volts at startup and goes up to 48 volts when vehicle is warmed up

but since you have 48 volts those injectors 2 and 6 are probably bad you can just change 2
dont replace them all

I have done this on my 03 not to bad of job

well I could see a point to doing the 4 on the one bank maybe.... but why sell the 4 on the other side when there is no issue.
we replace single injectors all the time.

Thanks guys for the advice.
did #2 and # 6 yesterday, truck runs great, tons of power.
still had to cycle a couple times this morning to get it started.
i am glad i only did the two injectors cause it is pretty easy job just takes time.
the most hassel i had was with the air cleaner but i think i have that figured out now.
oh and thank god for stubby 12mm wrenches i might go buy the ratcheting ones today that back bolt on the valve cover is tricky.
i am debating changing two more today but i will need to check the bank account first.
do you know of any addatives that will help with stiction? Or is that just a waste of money?

Additives are just band-aides... Just replace the two injectors, it'll cost you less in the long run.

Thanx for the info.
i already put a oil cleaner in there this morning.
hope it doesn't hurt anything.
i will change the other 6 injectors before winter, or sooner if they totally crap out.

got the other two injectors changed on the drivers side (only 2 hrs) thats not bad, just need $$$$ to do the other 4 i think i will just do them all at once.
It took a while for the truck to fire after i changed these two.
Is that cause i needed to prime the high pressure oil system?
Is there any way to prime it without turning it over?

nope just keep turning till it fires. of course with breaks inbetween. just air in the system. mine did that. after it starts you pretty much have to drive it like you stole it to get the air outta the system. it might have a few more hard starts but it will get better just part of it
