Few Questions :
1) Do you have to remove the fuel line on the head to drain the fuel prior to pulling the injector ? - prevent fuel from getting in the cylinder.
2) Did you change the stand-pipe ? Are they re-usable without replacing the o-rings ?
ok truck S#*T the bed again. no time so i took it in got a new FRICKEN FICM. runs better than it ever has. i think i am on my way to having an awesome truck.
Being that i live in canada i cut the cat out and the muffler. yeah straight 3 1/2" turbo back exhaust. the truck still doesn't have the power i think it should have. Where should i go now? What is the next step? Should i start with the head gaskets and arp studs or just wait till they blow. i smell diesel coming from the exhaust like it is not burning it all. the air cleaner is clean. could this be a problem with the turbo? can i clean the turbo?
I got the Injectors from a place called Supreme Diesel. They seam Knowledgable when talking to them about the six litre. almost everything they say is the same as i hear from all of you. They just dignosed the FICM so i am pretty sure there are no Injector codes unless they just don't wanna tel me about them yet. i guess i should get it diagnosed again unless someone else has any suggestions.
I have done nothing to the truck since the new FICM except regular maintenance and driving it like i stole it. It runs great now. Thanks for all the info guys.
low on power, 5 or 6 trys to get it running, then would lope for a while before it was warmed up. I did the voltage test on the ficm it was good even while cranking.i don't feal i wasted any money on it cause every time i worked on it it would run better untill the FICM totally crapped out. i wonder if my turbo is dirty or damaged now cause when i start it initially there is no turbo whistle for a couple minutes. I am studying to get a better idea how the turbo works. it is a lot more complicated than i ever thought it would be but i will keep reading untill i fully understand all the terminology and how the different parts in there work before i attempt anything.
