Choosing the right Holley

Just curious what size holley you are using on a 351 cleveland 4 spd and is fairly stock at the moment. I was told by mechanic today that my thermoquad is illegal to run with gas as it can blow the bake alite base to pieces if it gets too hot which apparently causes it to backfire and then possible explosion. So the old carbs goin and gonna replace it with a holley. The truck does tow horse floats with hills involved and at times heavy loads, so want something thats going to feed the beast so it dont fatigue and also good for daily driving.

What thermoquad do you have? the number should be on the base front right or rear left corner.. I have not heard of them doing that but I do like T-quads.. X2 on the 600 above, it will work great on that set-up..
