I have a 97 crew cab long bed 7.3. I have put an intake, straight 4" exhaust, 6 position ts chip and basicly the rest is stock. Whenfirst get in and drive the truck it is ***** to the wall, I love it. After driving for an hour or so, when the truck is nice and warm, it seems like it is starving for fuel. An example, I was pulling my horse trailer home from a ride this past weekend. I was heading up a hill at about 65 mph went to give it more pedal to get up the hill and there was no response. I had it floored and it didn't do anything. I had one gu ask when was the last time I changed my fuel filter, last summer. I don't put but maybe 5,000 miles on it in a year. Could it really be the fuel filter is just dirty or is there something else I can check? Thanks
Fuel filter is a good place to start. Check your fuel pressure too......hot of course since that's when you experience your problem..
Is you EBVP* still connected? It may be activating w/o your knowledge. This would certainly reduce engine power if even partially closed.
*Exhaust Back Pressure Valve
I would definatly cleean that screen. Take it all the way out and hold it in your hand. If that screen gets clogged it will act a fool after driving it for a bit. The screen is for the return.
