Vibration only when accelerating

I just bought a 2006 f150 exteneded cab w/ 5.4 V-8 and it vibrates when accelerating from a stopped position but not all the time---happens more when the wheel is turned. It definitely feels like the vib is coming from the left front side. I just got it back from the shop and the mechanic told me the vibration was stemming from the rear and that he exhchanged the fluid and added anti-friction additiver but that he expects the problem to continue. Any ideas?

is the truck a 4x4? Also, does it have a limited slip rear end? I know there were some shuddering problems with the limited slip rearends but I think the non limited slip rearends were fine. I don't have an answer for you but I'm sure someone will be along that will help you.

I'm with fordman19762003 on this one. It's likely the friction clutches in the LS rear end...that is assuming your truck came with a limited slip. If the friction modifier doesn't work, then upgrading to an aftermarket unit like the Detroit TrueTrac might be in order.

I had that issue - more so when accelerating through corners. During a schedule oil change, I had the ford garage put some friction modifiers in the rear end. Problem solved.
