I recently got a '71 F100 I6, three on the tree, and I'm not sure if this engine is a 240 or a 300. Is there an easy way to spot the differences between the two, sans dropping the pan and looking for numbers? The valve cover sticker is there but the numbers fell off a few years ago.

There is a stamped tag riveted on the door that reads 114 NET HP @ 3800 RPM.
Russell, It is my understanding that like the FEs you cannot visually tell any difference between the 240 & 300. Like the 360 & 390 the stroke is the only difference.
The 223 has the initake on the drivers side while the 240/300 is passenger.
