Hello everyone, I am very new to this so bear with me please. i have a 02 f250 with 7.3 PSD 176k miles. i have a leak on the front of the engine. i have narrowed it down to the front main seal. already replaced the cam sensor with factory part and that did not help. it really only leaks when i turn the engine off, it drips pretty good for a few minutes. from the 10mm bolt behind the balancer. So i guess my question is how hard of a job is it and do i need special tools to do it? Thanks for any help
If it is in deed your front main seal your in luck cause it's super easy. Only special
Tool needed is a harmonic balance pulley puller and maybe a fan clutch tool. Basicaly it's a seal inside the cover of the lpop. Once you pull the pulley, 4 10mm bolts to take loose and the cover with the seal comes right off. What I suggest is changing it with a moiling pump which is only $70 from clay at Riffraff diesel. It will already have a new seal installed in it. If you decide to just change the seal there are some
Markings on the old gears that have to be aligned. With The moling pump the gears can go on anyway. Also a good time to inspect the front cover for wear but I doubt that's an issue.
