I want to learn your driving style as that kind of mileage sounds outstanding. Years ago I had a '70 Maverick that had a bone stock 200 ci I6 and C4 automatic. I never got better than 24 mpgs from a no matter how conservatively I drove it. I also never got anything worse than 16 mpg if I drove it for all it had.
The stang also had overdrive (5-speed T5) trans, and an awesome power to weight ratio. I was not light-footed, it was very fun to pass people on the highway!

Sorry to hi-jack in advance, the Maverick was really anything but fun. It was mediocre at best. It was an OK bare bones transportation car that was dependable most of the time but it did develop a loose torque converter by 40K, needed a valve job by 60K and was burning oil from worn rings by 100K. The drum brakes all the way around made for some "fun" stopping after driving through any puddles.
