column drop

I finished my column drop today. I only needed two inches of drop wanted something a little different. The connecting rod I used is from an old 'Hercules' industrial motor. I cut it about an inch and a half above the big end and drilled a 1/4" hole through the beam. I cut two small 'L' brackets out of 3/4" angle iron and welded them to a flat piece of 1/2" stock about 5" long. I bolted it to the stock steering mount holes on the bottom of the dash with a piece of rubber in between for a gasket. Now on to the brake pedal.
Mike
The pictures are in my album and I'll to add them here.

Thanks guys. Luckily my welding skills are blurred in the second picture.
I haven't decided on a finish yet. It actually looks pretty good as is. The truck will be cream and maroon. I still have to pick up a mount to use on the floor. At least it's starting to look more like a truck than just a big go-kart frame.

That looks neat. The best part about it is that it is different and your idea. Well done.
