I got my CDR valve out and I cleaned it out with gasoline. I remember reading but I couldn't find it again.. how to test it by suckin and blowin and stuff? I don't really see anything rubber in mine or feel anything rubber in it. Should some kind of rubber be easily visible? just called ford and they said its 60 bucks I wanna make sure this thing is bad before I throw my money away. how to test it would be appreciated thank you
If its original, its gonna be sooner or later when it goes anyways. Your lucky your dealer has it for $60, mine was $90. I would just get it from your dealer and replace if it were me.
.... i don't have the money to waste right now... If its good I'm going to throw it right back on... if its bad... ill replace it. I just want to know how to test it and if I'am supposed to visually SEE rubber inside of it.
You should see part of a coil in there and you should feel some rubber inside(bottom I think). If you don't have the money, just run it and get a new one when you can. Its not gonna hurt it to run for a little while, just might leak a little oil into the intake. If you don't replace it, your HG's may fail, if you would rather save $60 and risk the HG's blowing, go ahead. I'm more of a replace it before something breaks guy.
There is a small hole in the CDR back cover, ensure it is clean and open. If black chunks of rubber are visible in the intake, on the screen then the rubber membrane has disintegrated, replace the CDR.
