Ford F-150 5.0 according to haynes manual, if tank is overfilling or cross filling, the overfilled tanks FDM probably has a stuck open shuttle valve.
My previous thread told my problem of fuel from rear tank filling the front tank. my pump on the front stopped working so i decided to change my leaking rear tank (cheaper) which i never used since first owned exept to find it leaking.
My question is, if i disconnect the electrical connector on the front tank, will the shuttle valve close solving this problem of cross filling?
i had scanned the pic. but could not attach it.
is it possible that my pump is still good and the problem is with the relay?
i ask because the pump stopped working last thursday and after i had changed the rear tank and discovered this cross filling problem i switched back to the front tank and the pump did work for a couple of days then stopped working last night on my way to work. if it is the relay how can i test it?

Reason: adding question
The fuel pump relay is common to both tanks/pumps. It's the tank selector switch on the dash that routes power to the desired tank. You could meter the output off the switch then trace the power to/from the tank.
thanks for the help, much appreciated. i am thinking if i have to take the tank down for anything i may as well cough up the dough and replace the pump. shouldn't have been cheap in the first place. never works out for me. this site has been very helpful, thanks again
