Hey guys new to the board and I am in the process of starting a new business. I'm looking to buy a 06-07 F350 SD. Crew Cab or Ext Cab 4x4 Diesel (non dually) The trailer will weigh 13,300 lbs. Can this truck haul it or no? I keep trying to seach different things and I'm not really having any luck. Please help!
The trucks can handle a lot more than they are rated if used correctly, but if being used in the business, it would behoove him to stay within legal limits. Very much so in some states.
mws250 brings up an excellent point. I am a carpenter and have my own business. Having the proper weight class rating sticker, the proper documentation and the proper insurance is very important. I have been pulled over twice and each time I had all the right paper work and the correct insurance(commercial) and a good attitude toward the officer and have never got a ticket. The second time the officer tried to find something wrong with my trailer and could not, so properly maintaining your equipment is just as important. So if it was me I would have the dually just for peace of mind. I also know that in the area where I live, DOT and local police are always looking for a reason to stop someone. Hope this helps.
Heaven forbid you are ever in an accident, the opposing lawyer is going to go right to the weight ratings on your setup! Even if it isn't your fault, you could be screwed.
