97 460 EGR Questions

Well im putting on headers and i currently believe that I only get 1 egr port on the header on the drivers side. my question is, if i plug ports off will it screw or damage my engine? I know for sure i get the port on the drivers side which goes to the intake manifold. I also have another line that goes to the bottom side of the manifold that connects to the back of the engine somewhere. now the other side has another one that goes up towards the front of the engine i believe conects to the PVC vavle somewhere down stream. Now what ports do i need? I think the only one i need is to the intake manifold. please someone show me whats right and wrong

You only have one EGR port on the drivers side going to the intake manifold now.
The system and lines you talk of are the A.I.R. air injection lines.
Most of the headers will come with a small A.I.R. manifold on top of the headers that you screw two check valves into, one on each side. The hose from each check valve go to the it own solenoid valve.

uh ya........ i dont have air injection and i also have another egr port on the back inside drivers side. I thought i only had 1 but until i tried to rip out the manifold. that other port runs to back side of the engine. which i think it runs to a T which the other manifold connects too. i would post pics but my pickup is 40 miles away and i dont really want to drive out there

Those are not EGR ports on the back of both manifolds, they are A.I.R ports.

Yep those are airports like Subford was so kind to picture for you... I have a 96 that was exactly that way it was... BTW just disconnect your egr tube at the egr on the plenum and don't even mess with taking it out of the ex manifold... If its like mine it will be much less pain felt to go down to the autoparts store and get a new egr tube to install into the new headers.... Unless you want to weld in bungs for the air injection you might as well remove the system or your gonna hear it all the time.... Or get headers that have the hook ups built in...But, In my situation both the the airtubes had to be cut anyway... completely seized to the manifold so was the egr tube ....
