Does anyone know who where to get some of the burlwood to match whats on the super duty dash? I'm looking for a piece to cover a portion of my console. Any idea who makes it or where I can get some?
Yup, it is actually not real burlwood. Take a close look, you can see the pattern is made of a printed pattern using a process called Hydro Printing. They pull a piece of vinyl across a bed of water, spray an activator, then dip the part in and clearcoat it. It is not cheap, but that is what Ford did. I am having my dipper do the front piece to my center console as well as a custom dash pod and gauge panel for me. I can get you the exact vinyl printing code, if you like.
I've actually been in the process of trying to start a business doing hydrographics. E-mail the guys at Liquid Print. They could probably do your part.

I was looking to do the front piece of my console as well. What is it running you if you don't mind me asking?

Well, it is hard to judge off me, because I got a package deal which lowered the price, but also am having some more pieces done, which raised the price. All in all, for the dash, console panel, lower F-650 dash, custom dash pod, and custom lower pod, I am having it done for $300. Not too bad, I suppose. The biggest price was the dash, which my guy told me should be around $150 - $200 on it's own. What kind of console are you doing? The inserts with the cupholders, or have you swapped to the 2008+?
Hey Tennessee, didn't you do the front panel of the console where the cup holders are? I've been looking around Long Island and the only place I could find that does this sort of work wanted a fortune to do that 1 piece. Do you think if I sent your place the 1 piece, they'd do it for a reasonable price? If I can't get it done, I'm just painting it KR brown. Really don't want to go that route. I think it would look much nicer with the wood grain.
