I noticed today all the seams in my bed are wide open, no seam sealer was put in them before it was painted! Are they all like this or was mine not finished properly? Check your beds please. I can see daylight and the ground at all the seams!
Not yet but I will be, I have never seen this before, talk about getting water under a bed liner! Let's all see what the different dealers say about this.
It's the same with the 2010's. It took me awhile to seal the holes after putting my roll up cover on. Then I put a bed mat in. I put a tail gate seal on also. So far it's stayed pretty tight. Not much dust, and I drive a sandy road everyday.
If you are standing in your bed looking straight down at the floor you can see straight threw the seams to the ground, on mine near the 4 corners and across the front of the bed where the front wall meets the floor. I have never seen these left open like this before!
I wouldn't worry about it. They're all this way. If you're worried, throw a drop in liner in and forget about it. Have you noticed how much weaker the tailgate access panel is? Mine is very flexible where it was very solid on my 07.
My dad brought this to my attention Saturday. He bought a 2011 f250 the week before i bought my truck. His also has this issue. It appears to be by design. :-/
letting rain out quickly is much better from a corrosion standpoint than forcing it to drip through tiny cracks slowly. I can't confirm if this is a design feature or floaw, but it sounds like a good idea to me.
i noticed that when i bought my 2010, so i compared it to my coworker's 2007, and it is exactly the same. I had noticed the ones closer to the tailgate. I get why they are at the front of the bed (water drainage). I would think that clear silicone would be perfect, just make sure to use some alcohol to clean the metal before applying the silicone!
