I'm installing my bed rug this weekend. I think im going to seal the gaps first though, because I don't want salt, water, etc to get trapped under the bed rug.

Too late for me I'm Line-X'd already. My l/x dealer also put that tailgate seal on too. So far my Extang hasn't leaked in this Florida rain yet. lIf i ever kept the same truck long enough to worry about a corrosion warranty claim that would be a first. Good info thanks Jimmy!

I have a truck cap (Snugtop) and a bedrug. I taped over the holes in the bed, and also installed a tailgate seal:

Extruded Solutions, Inc. >> Homepage

But even with this, the inside of the bed is like a vacuum cleaner on dirt/dusty roads. I'm going to seal (silicone) the gaps in the bed seams since that is the only thing left....

are you all seeing this in the 5.5 beds as well as the 6.5 beds? I know the short beds in the f150s are cut across the ridges in front and on the 6.5 beds the raised ridges stop short of the front and it becomes flat where it seals to the front.

It's the same for my 5.5 bed.

My 2011 was the same, I just wiped with alcohol and sealed them myself rather than wasting time and gas driving to the dealer to have them tell me that this is the way they all come. Now that I sealed up the box installed a cover & bed mat everything stays dry and clean, the truck also drives on a gravel road every day.

This is one of many things I like about my new '11 with 6.5' box. My old '93 F150 would fill with water when I washed it or when raining. I like that I can wash my new truck without parking the front on a hill to drain the box.

It sounds like some people are running out of things to find wrong with the new trucks.

People with trucks are just getting spoiled. They are like luxury cars now. For the longest time, if you wanted something to stay clean, you put it in the cab. A bed is not a trunk!

That's what I do. I really did try to seal the bed of my truck. I have a bedmat, and tape on every hole I could see. I even used stick on molding to better seal the roll up cover. No luck. I live in a dusty world, and it's impossible to keep it out.

so every few months, I take everything out, and hose it down.

What does Ford do on the trucks with the factory spray in liners?
