I am finally ready to paint my truck What is the best way to paint the red Ford back onto the white tailgate. Are there any stencils available? I have put so much time and money into this truck that I don't want something that will be so visable to look half-a@@ed! Any ideas?
Do you have any sign painters or places that letter commercial trucks? See if they'd paint the letters for you. I worked at a Ford dealer and they had this guy come in and letter trucks and you couldn't see a brush stroke anywhere! There may be stick on letters from the aftermarket suppliers, but I wonder how long they'll stay on.
I've seen a few perfect original (Canadian-made) tailgates, and it seemed to me that the painted letters were applied with a pad or perhaps some kind of roller. I tried to duplicate the look and failed. So, I used adhesive-backed vinyl cut carefully to fit the raised parts. This was a lot of work (I have seven letters!) but the result is okay. I can tell it's not quite right, and so could you guys, but everyone else thinks it looks great.
