I'am planning to change the coolant in my 1999 motorhome Ford v10 when the weather warms up. I think I read somewhere that there is drain plugs on the block. If so I will drain it and the radiator and fill it with water and some kind of a flush, run and drain again before filling it with anti-freeze. Will it fill right up or should I be concern about air pockets? Maybe disconnecting the heater hoses would help bleed the air out.Any comment would be appreciated.
Should be a drain plug on the block near the oil cooler.(Is on mine) Pull the thermostat and reassemble if you want to flush water through the system by running the truck.
Thanks for the info. On passenger side is the block drain plug behind the starter? Do you recommend using some kind of a flushing product and run the engine for a few minutes or just flush the system with a garden hose?
I used to park my truck at an angle (nose up) with the radiator cap off. After refilling it, I would start it and let it idle 'till it warmed up, the coolant level would typically drop after the thermostat opened and it would "burp" the air out at the same time. Fill up the rest of the way and cap it.
