OK, fixing my 06 right now. Diagnosed that number 7 injector is going south. So I've got the valve cover off and I'm looking at taking the standpipe out next. Here's the question, do you have to move the HVAC box? I can't see pulling the standpipe out without that. Thinking that there has to be an easier way.
on my 03 dont know if its the same for you but just undo the bolts that hold down the oil rail and then pull up and twist high pressure oil rail up out of the way didnt undo any standpipe or hvac box
and suck the fluid out of the upper fuel bowel before you pull the injector
Ok, got the top part of the stand pipe out. Curious now as to the proper procedure upon reassembly. But, that's not the only thing. The new one has a split white washer below the bottom o-ring. I assume that this is to allow it to compress when inserted into the standpipe hole in the rail. Is there a special tool required for it or does it seat itself?
Push the stand pipe into the engine, torque the piece in the hpop rail to 60 FT/LBS. Oil all O-rings upon assembly. Torque hpo rail bolts to 10 FT/LBS(I think). Or install the hpo rail and then drop the stand pipe in when the stand pipe is together if you have enough room. Be careful installing the hpo rail so you dont mess up the top of an injector. No special tools. 12mm allen socket or T-60 torx will work(I think thats the size)
A little heads up here, the old standpipe and the new one require different allan head drives. The original is a 10mm drive and the new ones appears to be the 12 mm that matty169 stated. Had to stop working on it when I got to that point last night, don't have the right socket for it. When this is all done I'll see if I can do a write up on it. Took some pictures along the way.
