Moving my intake advice

Ok guys, I'm new to 4x4's and I just got my first one. It's and 83 f250 that's been lifted a bit and sitting on hummer tires. The wheel wells in the front have been cut out and it's running an open K&N air intake filter. I'm wondering how much of an issue this will be in the mud. Is it something I should consider moving the intake into the cab for? I really appreciate any input and if needed I can post pics.

Ty in advance

does it still have the inner fenderwells in place or no? to be honest i've always had more water issues with distributors getting wet than getting water sucked in my intake. k&n makes those pre-filter sleeves that are supposed to keep mud and water out of the filter, but i have no personal experience with them.

Nope the inner are gone too. I assume it was to fit more rubber in there before the lift. Really not sure what to do with it short of fabricating new wheel wells

kind of sounds like your only logical answer if you plan to hit up a lot of watery mudholes, but like i said, i'd be more worried about the dizzy getting wet. build inner fenders and look into getting setup with a junkyard electrical fan and put it on a toggle switch so you can shut it off when you get ready to hit a watery mud hole. <---there's a buttsecks joke in there somewhere

there is only a joke there if ya have sick twisted mind.

oh wait. Dan posted that. nevermind.

if you are going to be playing in mud, i would suggest putting inner fenders back in, waterproofing the electrical, and changing the air intake to a cowl induction setup to try to keep it clean.

K&N and Spectre both make a dual snorkle style air cleaner with hoses to run to core support/grill. I agree, would be more concerned with wet ignition.

Id keep the intake on top of the engine where it belongs.

Now you could build a duct to route the air filter into the cab if youre concerned with water being sucked in. Dan is right...I have more trouble with the dizzy getting wet.
