Yes, The American's,British,Australian's,numerous other countries ,The Red Cross and numerous other agencies will be there to help.

What do you think the plan is and how will it be handled to
Create a Peaceful Iraq with its people ?

I have a feeling the area will need monitoring for YEARS after.

Please......No High-Jacking the thread..try and stay on topic.

As always, US $$$ will be piped into that region for years & years & years & years. Taxpayers such as myself will be sending countless dollars there. Lovely, isn't it...

I realize the money end of it.
I'm asking about, the people of this country and other middle Eastern countries<> The US & other countries and their occupation.

I'm talking physically,psychologically,socially ......

They can't just walk in & destroy *what they do* and head out leaving everything up to the agencies to try help form a democracy.
This is going to be time consuming.

If there was rally going on somewhere <>
Not everybody feels the same, you don't want everyone to act or feel like a sheep yet youare trying to convince them this is what should happen now.

First being dictated to by Saddam and now other people trying to get the people to think their way.

Don't under estimate the Iraqi people. All of the ones I have seen or heard interviewed, other than the saddam crowd, seem to be pretty clear headed about life after saddam.

Japan was probably more of a challenge because the people were isolated from the rest of the world, while through modern communications, the Iraqis have a better understanding of how the world works.

I wouldn't worry too much Million.
You will be surprised what a little freedom, and free enterprise will do for Iraq.
They are educated people, with natural resorces.
Look up some articles by some free-Iraqi's in the USA, and see how they feel about a Post-Saddam Iraq.
I listened to a woman on the radio in Omaha, who's family had to flee Saddam. They were wealthy business people who fell out of favor. It was a compelling story of brutality, and survival, and they have every intention of returning to a free Iraq.
I think too many in the world think that the USA wants to run Iraq, but I am confidant that it can become a model for the whole region.

The problem is, the people in that area of the world tend to respect cultural/religious ties more than any line drawn on a map. There is a vast difference between the philosophies of the Kurdish people in the northern part of the country and the Shiites in the south. Just because the reincarnation of the devil himself will be removed from power doesn't mean the whole country will let out a collective "Hurrah!" and get together for a big group hug. Look at Afghanistan. Would you consider the new government there to be stable at this point? I don't think it is just yet. This is going to be a long, and very expensive process.

As far as freedom and free enterprise being able to bring about change, look at Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Not a pretty picture. When people are so totally dominated by their government for so long, it takes a long time for them to change.

I see a free Iraq doing quite well for itself. There certainly isn't a shortage of resources...the government won't struggle to fund itself when it can sell all that oil. And Iraqis have enjoyed a modicum of free-trade through Saddam's reign, so it wont be a foreign concept that will have to be taught and implemented by us.
I think that the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites will get along fine if they can work together and compromise a little with each other. Perhaps they will develop an effective model for other fragmented countries to follow, and it will lead more people in the Arab world to change their own countries for the better when they see that Iraq can do it.
Allah willing....

It seems that some Iraqi soldiers have already surrendered today.

I wonder if the Iraqi people are seeing this ?

I expected to see more feedback on this subject about Making Peace after the war.

think of it.

with our freedom that we will give them they will be allowed to do what they want

1 pratice there religon
2 breed hate against us even though we may remove the "devil" himself
3 look at Germany there is still Hitler followers there

we won't be able go over there and say speak american we are great we saved you now pay us respect build nice houses wifes uncover your head .

these poeple like us has a heritage and rituals just like americains candians and all the others we can't just expect to kick hussain butt and the whole Irque country turn into the next
51st state mmmmm what would we call Texas2 or the "busch" state

it will take a long time lot of work because some Irques think and know this way as the "way of life" or the "way it has to be"

I honestly won't lose much sleep worrying about these people -- the US is viewed as the great Satan by them. We are helping a group of people who, for the most part, only sees us as a "slightly less evil" devil than Sadam. Countless dollars will be piped into the region, rebuilding will take place, and the international community will monitor political stability, as well. What I want to know is how much of my tax dollars that are wasted on them will be reclaimed using a trading system for their oil? Oh, wait -- I forget. Because I am an American, my money should be taken from me and sent to other countries. My bad.

Edit: Upon re-reading the initial post, I would also offer another point. The main problem at hand during the rebuilding process will be the lack of unity within the people themselves. Several factions exist, each with its own followers, its own agenda, and its on loyalties. Part of the problem will be to determine the method of having one leading party that all the different factions can support. Otherwise, a great deal of political & social instability inherently accompanies a leader not supported by the majority of his people. My two cents? Let the filthy Muslims kill each other over this issue. Last one alive gets their way.

Excellent reply!
Thank you,
You captured the essence of my question.

These are the things I considered when I typed this.

Wait until the manure hits the fan about France being awarded lucrative Cell Phone contracts for Iraq at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer's.

I've also been watching where some Iraqi's that left a long time ago are going back to fight the US for the sake of Iraq.
This was organized by saddam's son.

Yeah, good point. But, that could work against them.. Remeber, they're used to the worst. All it's gonna take over there when it's all over is someone "not as bad", or at least appears to be, long enough to get into power, and we could be back over there in another 10 years. Face it, they a re going to be an easy people to dominate, they're spirit has already been broken.

I agree with 1inaMill, it's gonna be far more difficult than the war itself. Bombs do, after all, speak louder than words..

Is there anyone else that would like to contribute to this thread?

I find this controversary most fascinating.

Now is seems that Germany,France,Canada, all WANT to be part of putting Iraq in order.

Canada was always ready for contributing Aid in Iraq.

Cheteien was just too worried about the Election In Quebec to say he agreed with sending troops to Iraq.

Of course they want to participate in the rebuilding -- lucrative contracts await them! Once again, America *(and the UK) foots the bill, puts lives on the line, spends the major $$$, and the remaining international community comes to the trough only when the shooting is done and profits are speculated. This is disgusting.

I wish we (the "willing") could monopolize on the rebuilding in order to recoup financial losses of freeing the people of Iraq. Unfortunately, the rest of the international community (read: Europe) would only label the US a bully, cry "UNFAIR" at the top of their lungs, and wonder why they can't reap the rewards of our hard work and sacrifice.

"Hey Joe, that woman is being abused & pummeled by that big guy! Let's not confront him -- perhaps we can talk him out of it by standing here in a safe position and pleading him to stop. What do you mean you're going to confront him? Don't do that -- he only beat her half to death so far -- let's try begging him some more! Well, if you're going to try stopping him, after he hits you with his fists (did I mention I gave him some brass knuckles), stabs you with his knife (oops, I gave him that, too), and shoots you with his gun (aw geez, I guess I sold that to him too), I'll be waiting for things to cool down so I can hit on the chick... Don't worry; I'll call an ambulance for you in case you get hurt. By the way, can you let me hold on to your cell phone? I don't want to rack up the minutes on mine."

International politics -- what a pain!
