What is it?
I have an '03 Ranger, 4.0L, 4x4. On the frontside of the firewall, directly behind the brake master cylinder, what is that called? It's about 10'' in diameter, black, and the master cylinder actually mounts to it. There is a hose running from it to the intake and it cracked right around the nipple, and I'd like to know what it's called. Thanks. Also the part # is: F87A-2B559-KA I've done some searching but can't fine any descriptions.

Hello and Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts!!!
I think you're referring to the brake booster. The hose running into it is a vacuum hose. There is a valve in the booster where the hose attaches. All are part of your power-assisted brake system.
Cracks and leaks can compromise the system and should be fixed ASAP.
