might a suggest throwing a late model 4.6 in it for the drool factor ???? two valve would be sufficient and if you get the romeo pi from an 02-04 exploder v8 they're all aluminum . there's a lil' shop in mizzou makes a carbed intake and distrbutor conversion for them to eliminate the 'putor and wiring nightmares . called jailbait choppers { or cycles don't remember } and hot rods . posted it up in the 48-60 forum once i did . the maverick should have enough space for it and you can go a late 5 or 6 speed , or there are many adaptor's available to put anything you want behind one . mullins auto salvage here bouts has several grade a exploder all aluminum romeos ready to go for 1500 bucks . the only diff' between them and the big horse gt wersion is that it's all aluminum instead of a cast iron block , and the tune in the 'putor . getting any ideas ???????????????? i have too much time to think driving around for a living that's where all my screwy ideas come from .......... theres a couple of co's that make aluminum valve covers for them too and i don't think it would be too hard to find someone to make up a set that look like the 427 cammers covers ...... a baby cammer hmmmmm............. drool some more !!!!!!!!

I had a mav with a 302 and you to be a contortionist to change the fricken plugs. I think a 4.6 may to broad in the shoulders to fit without some mods tot he mav's inards. But wouldn't she be a screamer!!!!!!!!!!

i actually had thoughts of putting a mod engine in a falcon. a 4.6 would be nice, but a 5.4 cobra 4 valve would be nicer.

a few shock tower mods ala the boss 429 mustang and the 67-68 fe big block stang's { did this to my buddy norms 68 highland green 390 4 speed bullit clone , not to difficult and he found patterns somewhere to go by } i believe would be all that in order to do it for that part of it , and i really doubt making up or finding some engine mounts would be a big issue . yep even a lowly 205 horser like in my bird would move that much lighter mav , or falcon quite spiritedly i do believe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would venture to say though a 4 valve 4.6 or 5.4 would cause a lot of clearance issues as they are much wider yet ........................ but da^# son can you imagine a suprecharged beastie in one of "em !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

with a mustink II front end you no longer have clearance issues due to confined space between the shock towers.
if a 427 cammer can fit,(think the wild child) a 4 valve 5.4 will fit.

I didn't have time to read everything, but it wouldn't suprise me if a mustang II suspension would be needed just for a two valve, they are even wider than a 460... I don't see no shock towers on this beauty!

and 55 f350, don't worry about being an influence, thats why I like it here!

Interesting...........but looks like too much work.
Drop in a nice 302, built the way you want it..........no wiring or computer hassles or fabrication required.
I would suggest the T-5 trans from a mid 80s-early 90s Fox body Mustang GT to back up the 302.

Better consider a brake upgrade with any of the engine choices. The stock brakes are barely adequate even with the 200 ci. I had a '70 with the 200 and the brakes were terrible. It didn't take much to get the four wimpy drums to overheat.

hades whaddaya need brakes for ????? that mav looks interesting . is there an article on it somewhere ? i am curious ............. personally im a bit of a tight **** so i'd stick with a 2 valve . 4 valves double the cost automatically as you have twice the parts to buy in some areas ............. and 2 valves are actually becoming quite easy to lay hands on relatively cheap . heres some more pics of the direction i'd want to wander off in with one if i could ....... shows the age a lil' bit but this era of drag cars was the best in the looks department .
