bb goes in the cover once you open the cover you will see where the spring seats on outer cover put bb there then spring
it just makes the spring push harder on the plunger thats opens the return line
once you get cover off you will see
I just did this to prevent premature injector failure with the stock deadend fuel rail it fires multiple injectors on the same side one after the other leaving fuel press low
To clarify, I should have only put the base number 9T517. I agree with you about them constantly changing part numbers and that is why I refer to the base number when I talk to Tousley or Ed about parts. I will plug in the entire number into their online searches though to see what it pulls up. It really does help to have the entire updated number though.
I also called a local dealer parts store in my area and asked about the 9C165 kit and weather or not it contained the spring. They pulled it off the shelf and said it did not have a spring and that it was just an o-ring kit (see fordparts.com for exploded diagram). I asked them if they had any other kits or numbers for just the spring and they said 9T517 is the only one they have.
1854267C94 and 1843065C98 are two International part #s that I see posted. I am not sure one or the other, but some guys are recently posting that the item is "restricted".
I may try these numbers this week with my local Int. parts guy and see what happens. I may just end up with my BB for the long haul.
Where does it go? Front or the back of the spring?
Just a warning using the BB Mod. You need to have a fuel pressure gauge when doing this mod. Some have reported their fuel pressure went too high doing this. For what ever reason.
There have been numerous reports that the BB mod works well, and is pretty darn cheap.
