Intermittent wiper problem 2005 SD

I have an F-350 SD 2005 6.0 diesel DRW.

On our last camping trip, hauling a 5th wheel, suddenly the wipers came on in slow intermittent mode.

I took apart the multifunction switch, cleaned it and reinstalled, no joy. All other aspects of the MF switch work fine, I.e. Hi lo beams, turns and flashers.

I have been reading some other threads that talk about the relationship between the switch, the GEM, and the motor, along with the several relays that are involved. I don't have a wiring diagram.

I disconnected the multifunction switch and the wipers continue to operate in slow intermittent mode with the ignition on.

In looking at the switch, I did some continuity checks and found that if I check the black wire (assuming that is common) I get various different connections between the black and other wires for different switch positions, so I am not convinced the problem is the switch.

Does anyone have a good diagnostic procedure to determine the problem.

Also, for my truck, where are the relay's and the GEM?
