Thought I saw an article in a magazine about a gas to diesel engine swap in a full size bronco; can't remember anything else about it; anyone hear of such a thing?
I've got a '82 with a 351M and auto trans; gets about 11 mpg and with gas going up, up, up, daydreaming about a more economical rig! The truck is in great shape, having been completely re-built from the ground up about 12 yrs ago and only about 2 months of use each year since then.
Its been done... frequently. One of the guys here has a Cummins in his 79. it has been discussed at length. Search the forum using diesel as the key word.
Hey man, I can help you out with your problem! I did a diesel swap in my 1990 Bronco. I used the 4BTA (3.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel) and a ZF-5 transmission. I got a build thread on here if you want to check it out https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...sel-build.html Lots of other people have done it as well using different engines and what not. Plenty of info to find. Other forums that have info would be fullsizebronco.com and 4btswaps.com
